i woke up that Saturday morning of September 26 gearing up to go to the gym. I usually attend the RPM class of Jaymee at FF Greenhills. I notice that there was raining already, but it did not stop me to prepare. I went outside and started to wait for a cab but there was none even after 20 mins. So i said I'll just take a jeep going to SM San Lazaro and there i might get my luck. the driver took an unusual route because according to him there is quite a flood along Tayuman. I still don't have any idea that a storm is actually happening. Upon reaching SM, i headed to Starbucks and ordered my usual morning coffee. I sat down and waited for a cab to pass by. I'm taking the first cab that will stop here I said. after 30 mins, there was no cab. I noticed that the water is now ankle level in front of the mall. I decided to go inside and look for a dress which I will wear for Tinay's Party that night. It's hers and her husband's birthday- an annual tradition which I should not dare not attend- otherwise _ "end of friendship" would be the outcome. I got a nice purple polo and a black slacks. I was even able to have the pants altered because it's quite long. it's now past eleven, I went outside there there was already a long queue waiting for some cab to come. I now notice that the flood reaches the knees of people coming to the mall. and so... i said ... this is not good. I decided to go back home instead. the jeep took quite a longer route this time. LRT way is now not passable according to some folks. It was then that I received several messages re some of my friends who are starting to bring their things upstairs due to flood. I still did not have the hint that there is a typhoon?? (was I stupid or was i just too focused on my schedule that day). what's this I said to myself. I reach home, i did RPM alone on the stationary bike which was bought by my nephew as a gift to his mom- my sister. I took a shower and asked for a home-serviced pedicure and foot massage then slept. it was already 4pm when i woke up. I headed for the TV and opened my laptop to see my social media sites....there I saw.. the Tragedy that has been going on. It was only then that I realized that my frustration is nothing compared to people who are now wandering around without food and clothing. those that are already on their rooftop or on the rooftop of some gasoline station in cainta. headed for the window to look down from my third floor room- there was no flood down our street- weird!! I receive an MMS from Jun- whose mom underwent an operation the day before. the MMS shows a "saklay" (crutch) floating on the first floor of the hospital where his mom is confined. I answered back asking where is the owner. he replied- we don't know. huh?? I sent a group text to almost every close friends in my phonebook - let's do a simultaneous Rosary at 7:15. Thanks to SMART for it's ever reliable network in times of crisis. Most of my friends confirmed to join. after the rosary i did not even feel hungry- i just headed for the kitchen for a cup of coffee and went back to my room. I started to update everyone.. those who are without electricity while watching Jessica Sojo's coverage of the on-going rescue. at 12MN I checked the some office-related stuff and prayed again before sleeping. whew!! that was one Saturday which i will not forget-- wait what happened to Tinay's party- I still have to update you guys. I called her yesterday- they are basically OK now but everything is still drying up.
