Our floor never fails to lavishly decorate during occasions like Halloween.. In preparation for our Trick Or Treat tradition this year, our group did the "Morgue" theme w cadaver freezers and embalming table complete w/ death tags etc., I just hope the kids will not be frightened so much that they would not wish to get their treats anymore.. wahahahaha I'm gonna bring home lots of candies if that happens. Trick or Treat is not a famous event of my childhood.. I just knew about it when I was already high School I guess.. Siguro, di talagah uso sa pinoy... I mean trick or treat is not really part of the Filipino Culture before. My father died when I was 3 so I remember going to the cemetery every year during all saints day, until my mother re-married. Now, I think I have already forgotten how to go there and find his tomb. Sometimes, I even go to the cemetery w/ friends (kahit di ko relative hahaha) and enjoy spending the day watching over lighted candles. My memory of my father is quite a brief one.
But whether we spend that day doing Trick or Treat or merely visiting our dead relatives and friends, we should not forget the important message: One day we know, we will be celebrating November 1 on the other side. Till that day, we should make our lives meaningful just like those colorful candies... or candles. So that the people who would visit us every year will not stop doing so until they themselves are re-united among us. (ahhooooooo)
